So, the picture isn’t pretty, but the sandwich sure did taste good. I’ve posted before about how to make the grilled cheese using fat free cheese, light butter done in the air fryer.
I actually just wanted to share a fail, so you don’t make the same mistake. As you might remember I got 6 jars of Kraft Fat Free Mayo delivered this week.
Most of my life I had never heard of mayo being part of a grilled cheese sandwich. A couple years back I say a commercial that I think started Dale Earnhardt Jr. pitching Hellman’s and in the commercial it said that mayo could replace butter for grilled cheese sandwiches. Back then, unhealthy me rushed off to try it.
I discovered that big corporate mayo and Dale Jr. had tricked me and that the mayo version was not as good as the butter version.
Fast forward to today, I was fooled again by Dale Jr. and big mayo. You see my mayo is fat free, while my butter is only light, so I thought let’s use the fat free mayo and make the sandwich healthier.
I should have taken a photo of the mess that made. The bread didn’t brown, and my clean air fryer now needs to be washed. It was clearly an exercise in futility. As much as I advocate for exercise, futility doesn’t help you burn calories.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Don’t make my mistake.
